Head of Ballet Kelowna heading into 10th year with company

Simone Orlando previously danced with the National Ballet of Canada

Ballet Kelowna artistic director and CEO Simone Orlando is excited to head into her 10th year with the company.

Orlando said the local organization was the first professional dance company to commission her in 2005 and when the role of artistic director and CEO became available in 2014 she jumped at the opportunity.

Highlights of Orlando include the new building for Ballet Kelowna and the collaboration with the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra in 2017.

害羞草研究所淚 really enjoy being able to take the works that we害羞草研究所檝e commissioned here on the road and our touring has really expanded over the past 10 years. We used to just tour in B.C., but now we害羞草研究所檝e gone further to Ontario, Quebec, and Atlantic Canada, and next season we should be expanding into the U.S.害羞草研究所

Orlando choreographed a piece to open the 2023/24 season called 害羞草研究所淪tudies of Cash害羞草研究所 featuring the music of Johnny Cash,

The company will also perform 害羞草研究所淭he Forever Part害羞草研究所 choreographed by Kirsten Wicklund and a new piece by guest artist and choreographer Jake Poloz titled 害羞草研究所淭he Royal We害羞草研究所.

The performances will be held at Kelowna Community Theatre on Nov. 3 and 4 starting at 7:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online or at the KCT box office.
