The first Pirates' Cove and Mermaids' Lagoon Family Beach Festival was a huge hit.

Put on by the Kelowna Foodie Hub, thousands of people came out to Tugboat Beach on Aug. 18 for a day of free family fun.

Festivities included face painting, bouncy castles, dancing, swimming and a ticketed buffet lunch.

Although the day was free, Foodie Hub owners John and Quinn Perks asked for donations to help them host more family events in the future and bring back the beach festival next summer.

Up next for the Foodie Hub is Rose All Day, taking place Aug. 24.
