This year's Harvest Celebration will mark a milestone for R.J. Haney Heritage Village and Museum.

The annual event returns for its 25th year at Haney, once again giving people an opportunity to savour flavours of the Shuswap with an array of food and drink from some of the region's finest restaurants, cafes, caterers, cideries, wineries and breweries.

A fundraiser for Haney, the event will once again include a silent auction table where people may bid on items donated by local businesses and individuals. The Harvest Celebration will also be the last chance to purchase raffle tickets, with the chance to win a Twin Anchors houseboat vacation. The draw will be held at 5:30 p.m. during the Sept. 8 celebration that runs from 3 to 6 p.m.

The event will include live music with Green Room (Elaine Holmes and Lawren Clark), and will also be an opportunity to explore the Village and its exhibits.

"The Village will be beautifully decorated in vibrant fall colours, providing a picturesque backdrop for exploring the Village, Museum, and lovely gardensº¦Ðß²ÝÑо¿Ëù¦," reads a media release from Haney. Located in the Montebello Gallery, the exhibits include Broken Promises and Uprooted.

On loan from the Nikkei National Museum & Cultural Centre, Broken Promises explores the profound impact of dispossession on Japanese Canadians, detailing their lives before, during, and after the Second World War and their ongoing struggle for justice. Uprooted celebrates the resilience of Japanese Canadians displaced during the Second World War who forged new lives near Salmon Arm.

Tickets for the Harvest Celebration are $36 and include three tickets to sample food and beverages on offer.  Additional sample tickets can be purchased for $4 each at the event.

"Tickets for this special fundraising event sell out quickly," said Haney, noting the event is for adults only.

For tickets, call 250-832-5243 or visit R.J. Haney Heritage Village and Museum at 751-Hwy 97B. More information about the Village can be found at  and on Facebook.
