The Oscar-nominated performer directed and stars in the comedy as real-life eccentric filmmaker Tommy Wiseau.

Cameras follow Wiseau and actor Greg Sestero, played by Franco害羞草研究所檚 brother Dave, as they make the 2003 cult classic 害羞草研究所淭he Room害羞草研究所� 害羞草研究所� a.k.a. 害羞草研究所渢he 害羞草研究所楥itizen Kane害羞草研究所� of bad movies.害羞草研究所�

Franco read Sestero害羞草研究所檚 2013 memoir 害羞草研究所淭he Disaster Artist害羞草研究所� but hadn害羞草研究所檛 watched 害羞草研究所淭he Room害羞草研究所� until he was shooting 2014害羞草研究所檚 害羞草研究所淭he Interview害羞草研究所� with Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg in Vancouver.

害羞草研究所淭here was a once-a-month screening of 害羞草研究所楾he Room害羞草研究所� in Vancouver, so I went there and it was incredible,害羞草研究所� Franco said before the world premiere of 害羞草研究所淭he Disaster Artist害羞草研究所� at the Toronto International Film Festival on Monday.

害羞草研究所淧eople were throwing spoons, they were throwing footballs, people were wearing tuxes, they had all these lines that they were yelling back at the screen and it was just awesome.

害羞草研究所淚t was actually the first night I met Greg Sestero, the other actor in 害羞草研究所楾he Room,害羞草研究所� and we started the conversation about making this movie.害羞草研究所�

害羞草研究所淭he Disaster Artist害羞草研究所� received a standing ovation when it first screened as a work in progress at the South by Southwest Film Festival in March.

害羞草研究所淭here were a lot of great reviews coming out of South by Southwest and it was really moving,害羞草研究所� said Franco.

害羞草研究所淏ecause even though at the centre of this film is this really bad movie, I put so much of myself into this. When we were making it, I found it very personal. We shot at locations that I had hung out at when I was a struggling actor coming up in L.A., and just their story of trying to make it, I can relate to. I害羞草研究所檓 sure tons of people will relate to it.
