Music in the Park gets a country twist

Country music fans will enjoy this weekº¦Ðß²ÝÑо¿Ëù™s edition of Music in the Park.

Join concertgoers enjoying Music in the Park every Friday night at West Kelownaº¦Ðß²ÝÑо¿Ëù™s Memorial Park.

Westbank Country Opry hits the stage this week on Aug. 11.

The band formed in 1995 to provide local musicians with a venue for presenting their music to like-minded individuals in the community, according to a West Kelowna release.

Over the years, the Opry has added new artists to each performance as well as maintained a roster of regular favourites º¦Ðß²ÝÑо¿Ëù“ offering a mix of new and traditional music.

The Westbank Country Opry is headlining the show and features Beamer Wigley with singing partner Abby Stewart starting at 6:40 p.m.

Free, family friendly Music in the Park concerts take place every Friday night from 6:40 p.m. to 9 through Aug. 25 at Memorial Park, adjacent to Johnson Bentley Memorial Aquatic Centre.

Music lovers will enjoy a variety of genres including country, pop, classical, and more.West Kelowna Recreation staff will be in the park hosting games and activities for the kids. A food and beverage vendor will be operating during the concerts.
