The Penticton Peach Festival kicked off on Aug.7 for the first of five days filled with entertainment, including a couple of high-flying shows. 

The Canadian Armed Forces SkyHawks Parachute Team returned for opening day with their distinctive Canadian Flag parachutes. 

Standing on each other in stacks three people high or spiraling downwards with legs linked together, the divers gave the Peach Fest crowds an aerial show as they came to land in Okanagan Lake Park. 

On Aug. 8, the Canadian Tire Mega Motocross performed for the first of many shows over the festival, with crowds packing the stands and sidewalks to watch.

The five riders, including X-Games gold medalists, Canadian national champions, and a 10-year-old rising star, rose up to 75-feet off the ground, and some beyond that, as they extended off their bikes and into the sky. 

The free festival's entertainment continues through to Sunday, Aug. 11, with live music every evening. 

Nazareth opened the festival on Aug. 7, but on Aug. 8, it's country night, featuring the Hillside Outlaws, Nice Horse, and Grammy-nominee Steven Lee Olsen. 

Also on Thursday is the sandcastle competition, hosted on Skaha Lake Beach, starting at 5:30 p.m.
