Platinum-selling Canadian folk singer/songwriter Sarah Harmer will be making a stop in Salmon Arm in the new year.

Presented by the Salmon Arm Folk Music Society害羞草研究所檚 (SAFMS), the March 18 concert at Song Sparrow Hall was announced Tuesday, Dec. 12, as part of Harmer害羞草研究所檚 Are You Gone Tour. Tickets go on sale Dec. 13.

Are You Gone, Harmer害羞草研究所檚 first album in a decade, is a deeply personal and political collection of songs inspired by the climate crisis, loss, presence and the beauty of life.

害羞草研究所淚t害羞草研究所檚 a sharpened, more electric confrontation with the realities of nature and human nature,害羞草研究所 said Harmer, who spends nearly as much time singing and songwriting in her home province of Ontario as she does advocating for the earth. One of her environmental achievements was leading efforts to prevent an open pit mine in a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve on the Niagara Escarpment.

At a time when many are turning to art and advocacy to rise up against the effects of climate change, including here in B.C., SAFMS artistic director Kevin Tobin said Harmer害羞草研究所檚 concert will be especially timely and appreciated.

害羞草研究所淗ere is this very accomplished, very affecting voice reflecting on themes that a lot of us are thinking about,害羞草研究所 said Tobin. 害羞草研究所淚 think Harmer害羞草研究所檚 music is really going to strike a chord with people.害羞草研究所
