TELUS to invest $14M in Kelowna

Kelowna is getting a slice of a five-year, province-wide $17 billion investment by TELUS.

The company will invest $14 million in Kelowna to enhance wireless connectivity and connect homes and businesses to TELUS PureFibre.

Plans include upgrades to the 5G network using ORAN technology, making it faster, more adaptable, and more energy-efficient. AI and data analytics will optimize network performance and coverage including doubling the number of new cell towers built across the province in 2024.

Over the past ten years, TELUS has connected more than 1.9 million homes and businesses in B.C. with TELUS PureFibre.

A company media release states that from 2000 through 2023, TELUS invested $259 billion nationally in network infrastructure, operations and spectrum, including over $63 billion in B.C.
