2 tickets, several verbal warnings from Kelowna RCMP amidst fire ban

The Kelowna RCMP has issued two violation tickets under the Wildfire Act this summer, the latest issued on on Monday (July 22). 

A member of the Okanagan Forest Task Force was said to be doing patrols in the area of Postill Lake Road. 

The individual contacted RCMP to report an open campfire about four kilometres up the road. 

Task Force president Kane Blake posted a to Facebook and said their members come out to extinguish the blaze.

Cpl. Michael Gauthier confirmed police attended the scene and one person in the group was issued a ticket in the amount of $1,150. 

Gauthier said this is at least the second violation ticket issued by Kelowna RCMP this summer under the Wildfire Act. Several verbal warnings have also been made.
