BBQ fire on 6th floor apartment balcony in Kelowna quickly doused

A barbecue fire on a sixth floor balcony at 1195 Richter Street was quickly doused on Thursday morning, June 6.

A barbecue fire at 1195 Richter Street in Kelowna has quickly been doused.

Just after 8 a.m. on Thursday, June 6, the Kelowna Fire Department received multiple calls of a barbecue on fire on a sixth floor patio in the Lodges at Packer's Junction apartment building. 

Upon arrival, no smoke or flames were visible.

Multiple fire crews, and police officers are on scene investigating. Fire crews are also ventilating the building.

Richter Street is currently blocked northbound from Clement Avenue to Vaughan Avenue.

It's unknown if anyone was hurt or if the building was evacuated at this time. The Marmalade Cat Cafe reopens open.
