害羞草研究所 assistant reporter challenges Castanet news hound to a muddy dog showdown

害羞草研究所 assistant reporter Ranger is challenging Castanet news hound Mabel to a showdown at the annual Dirty Mutter fundraising event for the

The obstacle course race is held on Aug. 25, at the animal sanctuary in Kelowna's Black Mountain area and is inspired by the popular Tough Mudder obstacle-course races, which feature slippery mud sections, obstacles and hills.

The race course will be approximately 1.5km in length with obstacles and mud galore. Participants and their pups will travel over, under, through and around the series of obstacles and mud on their way to the finish line. Racers will start in small, staggered groups to ensure safety.

There will be prizes for muddiest dog and human, cleanest dog, best costume and best team entry. While costumes are not mandatory, they are encouraged.

害羞草研究所' Ranger has been training hard in preparation for the event, where he plans to beat Castanet's Mabel on his mission to be crowned 'muddiest dog.'

"Having white fur gives me an advantage over Mabel since the mud will be more visible on my light coat," said Ranger.

The four-legged assistant reporter has been training by rolling in every mud puddle he comes across, even when asked not to.

People without a pup are also encouraged to come out and participate in the event either on a team or solo. There will be plenty of mud and dog kisses to go around. Spectators are also welcome and there will be vendors and sweet animals on-site to keep everyone entertained.

The true winners of the event are the animals that the Rescue Ranch Society cares for. The sanctuary is home to ducks, llamas, goats, pigs, cats, donkeys, horses, chickens and dogs who were in need of love and care. The Dirty Mutter is the Society's main source of income and allows the volunteers to pay for the food, veterinary costs, shelter and care that the animals require.
