City of Kelowna builds housing development support team

The City of Kelowna the City is offering property owners more options for what they can do with their lot with a housing development support team.

It consists of senior staff members with extensive knowledge and experience in the local housing market and planning regulations.

The team will support property owners, housing developers, and builders to make it quicker and easier to get housing built.

"The City of Kelowna is committed to supporting the development of more housing options for our residents, especially in light of the housing affordability and availability challenges we face," said Dean Strachan, manager of community planning and development.

The cityº¦Ðß²ÝÑо¿Ëù™s development chatbot and fast-track approval process for infill housing will also help speed up the review and processing of applications.

º¦Ðß²ÝÑо¿ËùœThe housing development support team will support planning technicians and junior planners in providing a higher level of service, answering questions, and providing guidance for housing development proposals of any scale, location, or type in Kelowna," Strachan added.

The support team can be found at the development services counter at city hall and is available Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
