Council will consider yet another version of proposed changes ot the Good Neighbour Bylaw restricting construction noise.
Following resident complaints earlier this year council asked staff to review the bylaw and provide recommended changes.
Staff suggested construction noise be allowed between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. on weekends and no construction noise on statutory holidays.
Currently, noise is allowed between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. seven days a week, including stat holidays.
A report going to council on Monday (July 8) recommends construction noise be allowed between 7 a.m. - 9 p.m., Monday to Friday (no change), and 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and all provincial stat holidays.
In June, the Canadian Home Builders害羞草研究所� Association Central Okanagan (CHBA-CO) asked council to reconsider the original bylaw changes.
It said that construction projects have tight deadlines, and delays caused by the changes could impact completion dates and increase costs.
The Urban Development Institute (UDI) has also stated that delayed starts on weekends and an outright ban on statutory holidays will have an adverse effect on new construction projects.
