City of West Kelowna crews are starting water main flushing in the Shannon Woods, Shannon Heights, and Tallus Ridge neighbourhoods.

A precautionary water quality advisory is in effect in these areas while work is underway.

Flushing forces high-velocity water through hydrants to remove sediment accumulated in the distribution systemº¦Ðß²ÝÑо¿Ëù™s mains over time.

Customers may experience reduced water pressure and/or discolouration when crews are working at a nearby hydrant. Any disruption and discolouration should be brief and only occur around the time of the flushing.

Watermain flushing will occur 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday to Friday and the schedule is subject to change due to weather and other factors.

During the flushing program, the city will provide residents with an alternative free source of drinking water at the bulk filling station at Shannon Lake and Asquith Roads. Bring clean bottles for filling.

More information about the flushing program is available on the City of West Kelowna website.
