The City of Kelowna is looking at options to amend construction noise times.
Coun. Rick Webber put forth a motion at Monday害羞草研究所檚 (Feb. 12) regular meeting, noting that recent news stories make his motion timely.

Council also heard from staff that thousands of properties in the city are going to be eligible for infill housing under new provincial legislation.
害羞草研究所淚t seems infill housing within existing neighbourhoods is here to stay and there害羞草研究所檚 going to be a lot of it,害羞草研究所 Webber added.
His motion states bylaws governing construction times and days in Kelowna are among the loosest in the country.
害羞草研究所淐onstruction work can now go on 7 days a week from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., 365 days a year, even on statutory holidays. Plus, variances are available to allow crews to begin construction in the middle of the night.害羞草研究所
Webber points out that developments can take several years to build and can be difficult for residents to cope with.
害羞草研究所淎 variety of Kelowna residents have recently written to the council describing the impact of ongoing construction noise on their stress levels and the mental health of their entire families,害羞草研究所 the motion states.
Part of staff害羞草研究所檚 work will be to review construction noise restrictions in other communities and bring forward options for council害羞草研究所檚 consideration.
There is a $500 fine for contraventions of the bylaw.
