The first impaired driver of the new year was caught in Lake Country less than 24 hours into 2024.
On Jan. 1, at 11:30 p.m., the RCMP were called after an SUV was seen parked in the northbound lanes of Highway 97, near Oceola Road. Once on-scene the officers determined that no collision or mechanical issue was impacting the vehicle and that the driver害羞草研究所檚 erratic behaviour was likely a result of alcohol.
A female driver was arrested for impaired operation and was taken into custody where breath samples were provided.
The driver was later released with an upcoming court date for charges of failure or refusal to comply with demand. Additionally, she is prohibited from driving for 90 days and her vehicle has been impounded.
In 2023, Lake Country Detachment officers took approximately 89 drivers off of the roads for a variety of alcohol-related offences.
