Although a public hearing is prohibited, Peachland residents can comment on provincial housing legislation that will affect their community.

On June 11, council will give the first three readings to amend a zoning bylaw enacting small-scale, multi-unit residential housing.

Known as Bill 44, the legislation requires local governments to allow up to four housing units on properties zoned for single-family or duplex uses.

Municipalities must amend their zoning bylaws to conform to the legislation by June 30. Bill 44 prohibits holding a public hearing to adopt those amendments.

However, the public can provide comment on the proposed bylaw to Darin Schaal, director of planning and development, by email at dschaal@peachland.ca, or by mail to 5806 Beach Avenue, Peachland, BC V0H 1X7.

Submissions must include a resident害羞草研究所檚 name and address and be received by 4 pm on June 5.

The proposed bylaw and related documents can be reviewed by appointment at the municipal office at 5806 Beach Avenue, Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., except statutory holidays.
