The Regional District Central Okanagan (RDCO) adopted its 2024-2028 financial plan at its Mar. 14 meeting, setting the dollar amounts residents in the four member municipalities and two electoral areas pay on their property taxes.

The average increase across the RDCO is 8.5 per cent with its operating budget at $65.6 million in 2024, up 6.7 per cent from 2023.

害羞草研究所淲e continue to prioritize the services people value the most, such as curbside organics, planning for a new facility for Central Okanagan Search and Rescue, and creating more year-round access to our regional parks,害羞草研究所 said Loyal Wooldridge, RDCO chair.

Approximately $14.5 million in capital and infrastructure improvements are planned for 2024, with $6.7 million in projects being carried forward from 2023.

New projects in 2024 include:

  • $400,000 for engineering and design for a new facility for Central Okanagan Search and Rescue;
  • $450,000 for public education, outreach, and service design for curbside organics collections;
  • $311,000 for improvements to Kalamoir trail network to increase options for active transportation;
  • $393,000 for multi-year projects to improve accessibility to regional parks.

The RDCO does not collect taxes directly and instead requisitions funds from each local government on behalf of their residents and the province, which collects rural property taxes in each electoral area.
