Peachland council has approved a townhouse project next to Highway 97.

The development will require right-in-right-out access at the highway and Lilly Street where 14 townhomes units will be built.

That part of the project is still a concern for Coun. Terry Condon, who said he would prefer to see a solid barrier to prevent drivers from turning left onto the highway from Lilly St.

He noted that the Dragon Lotus Restaurant, just down the highway from Lilly St., had previously received permission from the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure (MOTI) for right-in-right-out access.

Staff told council a solid barrier would be the recommendation to MOTI.

MOTI has also committed to reducing the speed limit from 90 km/h to 70 along Highway 97 from Princeton Avenue to Hawkes St.

A staff report states the development will increase housing choice with diverse residential units, including flex units, which are limited to long-term rental.
