Plan ahead, Kelowna International Airport will be busy during the holidays

More than 130,000 passengers are expected to pass through Kelowna International Airport (YLW) over the holiday season.

The busiest travel days between Dec. 20 and Jan. 8, will be Wednesdays and Fridays.

Extra YLW staff will be available during this time to help passengers in the terminal and on the front curb.

To make the experience as easy as possible airport staff ask travellers to consider the following tips:

  • Check-in online - Passengers are encouraged to check-in, pay fees, and retrieve their boarding pass online to help speed up the experience at the airport;
  • Parking - Parking is expected to reach full capacity during peak periods. Passengers can pre-book valet parking services. Alternative transportation options include taxis, shared ride and limousine services, shuttles, public transit, or family or friends;
  • Checked baggage carry-on - Visit the to check if items should be packed in checked baggage or carry-on. Gifts must be unwrapped as they may need to be inspected. Check with your airline to learn about their baggage restrictions and fees;
  • Arrive early - It is recommended to arrive at the terminal building at least two hours before domestic flights and three hours before international flights;
  • Confirm identification requirements - Check with your airline to ensure you have the required identification and valid travel documentation for everyone, including children. If you are not a Canadian or American citizen and travelling to the U.S. you may be required to complete an .
