Not all heroes wear capes and not all Santas drive sleighs.

The annual Glenmore Light Up on Dec. 17, was an event that Rob McBurnie害羞草研究所檚 children had been eagerly awaiting 害羞草研究所 until they found out it may not be happening. After attending the Okanagan Jeep parade, his children asked when the Glenmore Light Up would be.

After checking Facebook, McBurnie realized that there wasn害羞草研究所檛 going to be an event this year. 害羞草研究所淢y kids were totally devastated,害羞草研究所 said McBurnie.

But, that devastation didn害羞草研究所檛 last long. After some encouragement from his wife, McBurnie decided that he would organize this year害羞草研究所檚 light-up event.

He made a Facebook group and was able to find 34 vehicles to participate. The vehicles were adorned with lights and decorations, while they played Christmas music, and some threw candy at onlookers.

The streets were packed with people. As it was a last-minute effort, McBurnie didn害羞草研究所檛 expect the turnout to be as big as it was. It was the joy on the kids害羞草研究所 faces that made all the hard work worth it. Santa showed up and decided to give his reindeer a rest by driving a hot rod rather than his usual sleigh.

Next year is expected to be an even bigger event as McBurnie has been receiving lots of messages asking about volunteering. Next year害羞草研究所檚 event will also feature a food and toy drive and there are plans on heading downtown and looping back to Glenmore. If you害羞草研究所檙e interested in volunteering at next year害羞草研究所檚 event, you can search 害羞草研究所淕lenmore Festival of Lights害羞草研究所 on Facebook.
