The City of West Kelowna is moving its water main flushing program into the Shannon Lake and Shannon Way neighborhoods, starting Thursday, May 23.

The routine maintenance work is crucial for maintaining the quality and reliability of the water supply.

Water main flushing will occur from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday to Friday.

The schedule might change due to weather or other factors. During this period, an isolated, precautionary water quality advisory will be in effect in the area.

Residents may notice city staff and vehicles working at nearby hydrants, and signs will be posted to indicate active flushing areas.

There might be brief periods of reduced water pressure and water discoloration. These disruptions should be short-lived and occur only during the flushing activities.

Also, residents can access a free alternative drinking water source at the bulk filling station at Shannon Lake and Asquith Roads. Make sure to bring clean bottles for filling.
