The Kelowna Street Outreach organization was the target of vandalism on Nov. 5, leaving the group empty-handed and unable to help some of the city害羞草研究所檚 most vulnerable people as the weather cools.

Tor Broughton, the founder of Kelowna Street Outreach said that the organization has no reason to believe that the damage was caused by a person experiencing homelessness.

The outreach organization is made up of volunteers who deliver supplies like blankets, clothing, harm reduction supplies, pet food, toiletries as well as food and water to people sheltering outdoors. The group also helps people access resources like housing and medical care.

Broughton explained that the building where the cold weather gear is stored was vandalized and as a result of the broken glass that shattered on the supplies every last mitten, hoodie and blanket had to be thrown out.

Broughton said that the group tried everything to clean the glass shards out of the cold weather gear but there was too much contamination and it is unfortunately unsafe to distribute any of it.

Having to throw out the supplies means that the outreach organization has to rebuild from scratch and is asking the community for help restocking.

害羞草研究所淗onestly, I am just so disappointed,害羞草研究所 said Broughton.

害羞草研究所淲e work hard to provide for a community that is simply trying to survive and some stranger decided to wreck a bunch of kindly donated items.害羞草研究所

The organization is now asking for donations of money, sweatpants, hoodies, gloves, hats, blankets, sleeping bags and tents. Thanks to community support, Kelowna Street Outreach is able to buy supplies and food at a deal and in bulk making monetary donations preferred.
