Truck on the lam after ramming RCMP vehicle in Kelowna

The RCMP are actively looking for the truck

Two suspects are on the loose after ramming into a RCMP vehicle.

Just before 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 10, the Kelowna RCMP were made aware of a grey 2008 Dodge D2500 pickup truck with the B.C. license plate G89876 in a mall parking lot. Two people who appeared to be intoxicated were sleeping inside the truck.

Before arriving on scene, RCMP determined that the truck was stolen.

Officers located the truck and started to approach the vehicle to talk to the individuals, when the truck suddenly backed up and accelerated forward, crashing into the RCMP cruiser, resulting in significant damage.

The truck and the two suspects fled the scene and throughout the night the RCMP received reports of the truck driving recklessly through Kelowna. Because of the concern for the public害羞草研究所檚 safety, officers did not pursue the vehicle.

害羞草研究所淭his was a highly volatile and dangerous situation, and we are grateful that neither our officer nor any member of the public was injured as a result of the actions of these individuals,害羞草研究所 said Kelowna RCMP media relations officer Const. Mike Della-Paolera.

In the days before this incident, the truck was seen driving around recklessly. On Monday, Oct. 9, the truck was seen driving the wrong way on Highway 97 in West Kelowna.

The RCMP are actively looking for the truck, which could have possible damage from the collision with the police car. If anyone sees the truck, do not approach it and call 911 with the file reference number 2023-60776.
