The first council meeting available for public attendance was held at the new West Kelowna City Hall on Tuesday (May 28) night.

Since the city was incorporated in 2007, successive councils have met in several different buildings until a temporary home was found at the Mount Bourcherie Community Centre (MBCC) in 2009.

Over the last several years, meetings have been held in a portable next to the MBCC.

Council held two virtual meetings in the new chambers until they were ready for the public.

The new municipal building opened its doors on May 21 and is next door to the Johnston-Bentley Aquatic Centre and Memorial Park.

It is also home to the West Kelowna branch of the Okanagan Regional Library which is scheduled to open on June 5.

MP and MLA offices as well as ICBC and ServiceBC kiosks are also housed in the new city hall.

Operating hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., excluding statutory holidays.
