UPDATE: Thousands without power in Rutland area of Kelowna

UPDATE:

Another 2,000 FortisBC customers have had their power restored in Rutland.

There is still more than 2,400 customers in the dark in the Rutland Road South, Rutland Centre East and Belgo area.

UPDATE:

FortisBC has restored power to 2,005 customers in Rutlandº¦Ðß²ÝÑо¿Ëù™s Ben Lee, Tartan and Leathead area.

There is still no time of restoration for the remaining customers left in the dark.

More than 6,900 FortisBC are in the dark in Kelownaº¦Ðß²ÝÑо¿Ëù™s Rutland area.

Power is out in the Rutland Centre West and East, Uptown Rutland, Quigley, Rutland Road South, Brighton, Ben Lee, Tartan and parts of the Belgo area. The outage, which occurred just before 3 p.m., also extends across Highway 97 to sections of Banks and Powick Road, including Walmart.

The cause of the outage is not known. The time of restoration is also not known.
