UPDATE: Westside Road reopened, power restored

Power outage due to downed trees blocked the road since early morning

UPDATE 4:15 p.m.:

Motorists can finally make their way along the stretch of Westside Road.

The stretch near Udell Road which was closed most of the day has finally reopened.

Power has also been restored for Killiney Beach area residents.

The outage and road closure was caused by downed wires due to trees being blown down early Wednesday morning, which started around 2 a.m.

UPDATE 2:30 p.m.

BC Hydro is on scene in Killiney Beach and estimate power will be restored around 4:30 p.m.

UPDATE 1:44 p.m.

Two of the three outages have been restored, according to BC Hydro.

The last remaining power outage is the Killiney Beach, in which 471 customers have been without power since 12:48 a.m.

BC Hydro has a crew on their way to the scene. The outage was caused by a downed wire.

UPDATE 10:52 a.m.

Westside Road will be closed until at least 1 p.m., according to DriveBC.

UPDATE 8:34 a.m.

Westside Road is closed again, but this time at Udell Road in Killiney Beach. The closure is because of downed hydro lines. Drivers are to expect delays.

DriveBCº¦Ðß²ÝÑо¿Ëù™s next update is coming at 10 a.m.

Additionally, the largest of the four power outages along Westside Road has been restored. 630 customers remain without power.

UPDATE 8:12 a.m.

Westside Road has reopened, according to DriveBC.

All power outages remain in effect.

Downed hydro lines have caused multiple power outages and the closure of Westside Road on Wednesday morning (Apr. 3).

Three of the outages started from 12:40 a.m.-1:30 a.m. in Killiney Beach and up Westside Road, west of Westshore Road and north of Mountain Drive.

A fourth outage began at 6:37 a.m., just south of Ewing and north of Fintry.

In total, 1,758 BC Hydro customers are effected.

Two of the outages are caused by a downed wire while the other two are under investigation, according to BC Hydro. Crews are on scene at one of the outages and have been assigned to the other three.

Because of the downed hydro lines, Westside Road is closed at Six Mile Creek states DriveBC, who will next provide an update at 8:30 a.m. A detour is not available.

West Kelowna

Additionally, downed trees also took out power lines early Wednesday night in West Kelowna.

A crew is on the scene on Bear Creek Road and Parkinson Road where 154 BC Hydro customers are affected by the outage.

Peachland

Less than five BC Hydro customers in Peachland are also without power on Wednesday night because of a tree that fell onto wires. The power has been out in the 4600 block on Minto Street since 12:11 a.m. A crew is on scene.
