West Kelowna Warriors skid at three games after loss to Trail

The West Kelowna Warriors losing streak hit three games after dropping a 6-4 decision to the Trail Smoke Eaters Saturday (Feb. 10).

Power plays made the difference in the first period as three of four goals were scored with the man advantage.

Trailº¦Ðß²ÝÑо¿Ëù™s Jason Stefanek started things off just 21 seconds in.

The Warriors Jack Pridham answered back just under a minute later with a power play goal to tie the game. Isaiah Norlin and Felix Caron assisted on the play.

Trail went up 3-1 with goals from Adam Barone at 5:34 and Chase Stefanek at 15:27, both on the power play.

The Smoke Eatersº¦Ðß²ÝÑо¿Ëù™ Ridge Dawson made it a three-goal lead at 2:02 of the second period.

Caron cut the lead to two, scoring at 12:13 of the period with assists to Jackson Kyrkostas and Norlin.

Michael Salandra got the Warriors to within one at 7:27 of the third, as Caron, with his third point of the night, and Simon Houge assisted on the goal.

Trail regained their two-goal cushion when Ridge Dawson found the back of the net nearly three minutes later.

West Kelowna would draw within one again with a goal from Johannes Løkkeberg at the 13:52 mark. Kyrkostas and Viggo Nordtrom had the assists.

Mathieu Cobetto-Roy added the empty netter for the Smoke Eaters at 19:56 to seal the 6-4 win.

Trail out-shot the Warriors 30-28.

The Warriors are now 24-8-7-0 and sit in second place in the Interior Division.

West Kelowna make their way back to Royal LePage Place for the first time in 19 days as they take on the Salmon Arm Silverbacks on Feb.16.

Puck drop is slated for 7:00 p.m.
