West Kelowna Warriors win one, lose one over the weekend

The Warriors beat Salmon Arm 5-4 and lost 4-0 to Penticton

West Kelowna害羞草研究所檚 Michael Salandra scored two goals as the Warriors beat Salmon Arm 5-4 Friday (Feb. 16) night.

Salandra opened the scoring at 5:18 of the first period with his 20th goal of the season, assisted by Jackson Kyrkostas and Felix Caron.

He then scored on a penalty shot at the 8:47 mark to make it 2-0 Warriors.

The Silverbacks cut the lead to 2-1 when Tanner Walos got his first goal of the season.

Three minutes later Felix Caron (25) scored short-handed and unassisted to put the Warriors back up by two.

Salmon Arm got one back when Reid Varkonyi scoured on the power play with West Kelowna害羞草研究所檚 Viggo Nordstr枚m in the box for tripping.

The Warriors would finish the scoring in the first period when Callum Hughes netted his 18th at the 14:06 mark, with Johannes L酶kkeberg getting the assist.

Cole Cooksey (11) got Salmon Arm within one about halfway through the second, the only goal of the frame.

West Kelowna regained its two-goal lead at 2:48 of the third on Isaiah Norlin害羞草研究所檚 11th of the season, with assists to Caden Kemkaran-Humble and Owen Drury.

Salmon Arm害羞草研究所檚 Tristan Allan (6) added one more for the Silverbacks at 17:06.

Warriors goaltender Rorke Applebee face only 18 shots while his teammates peppered Silverbacks net minder Eli Pulver with 33 shots.

Saturday (Feb. 17) night was not a good one for the Warriors as they lost 4-0 to the Penticton Vees, the first time they have been shutout this season.

The Vees scored one in the first period, twice in the second, and once in the third. Two of their goals came on the power play.

Will Ingemann got the shut out win for the Vees. West Kelowna had 23 shots on goal to Penticton害羞草研究所檚 21.

The Warriors are 25-20-7-0-0, second in the Interior Division and seven points back of the Vees.

West Kelowna welcomes the Langley Rivermen to Royal LePage Place on Family Day (Feb. 19).
