17-year-old Kelowna golfer wins junior tournament

Oakley Mayner won the MJT Odlum Brown Classic held in Surrey and Delta from July 30-Aug. 1

Kelowna's Oakley Mayner is coming home with some hardware.

The 17-year-old won the MJT Odlum Brown Classic, which took place from July 30-Aug. 1 at Northview Golf and Country Club in Surrey and Kings Links by the Sea in Delta. 

After shooting a 71 and a 69 in the first two rounds at Northview, Mayner shot a 71 at Kings Links to win the tournament by one stroke, beating Parker Riou from Strathmore, Alta. Through the three rounds, he totalled eight birdies and one eagle.
