Members of Kelowna Karate and Fitness dominated the Dojo in Oregon on Aug. 10-11.

Sensei Paul Atkin won first place in men's kumite and second place in men's kata. David Douda saw reverse results, finishing first place in men's kata and second place in men's kumite.

"It was a memorable one as my Canadian teammate David Douda and I both made it to finals where we got to compete against one another in kata and kumite for Gold," said Atkin. "That Canada took gold and silver in both categories for the men's division shows huge momentum for our country approaching the World Karate Championships this October in Japan."

At the event, there were elite athletes from both Canada and the USA, who also got to participate in joint training with world-famous instructor Taniyama Shihan.
