The West Kelowna Warriors had a dream start to December as they extended their winning streak to five games.

On Friday night (Dec. 1), the birthday boy, Felix Caron, scored the game-tying goal and the game-winning goal in overtime, to give the Warriors a 5-4 win over the Merritt Centennials. It was his team-leading 14th and 15th goals of the season.

The next night, the team was back on home-ice as they welcomed and shutout the Salmon Arm Silverbacks 4-0.

After a scoreless first period, the Warriors nabbed three goals in the first 6:05 minutes of the second period to take a 3-0 lead. Brennan Nelson scored on the power play, followed by goals from Trent Wilson and Caden Kemkaran-Humble.

Zhenya Miles added his first goal of the season in the third period to give the Warriors a 4-0 lead.

Rorke Applebee made 22 saves to earn his second shutout of the season.

With five wins in a row, the Warriors are 15-6-2-0, sitting third in the BCHL害羞草研究所檚 Interior Conference.

Now, the Warriors have a busy week ahead as they welcome the Trail Smoke Eaters to Royal LePage Place on Saturday (Dec. 9) and the Vernon Vipers on Sunday afternoon (Dec. 10).

Saturday is Teddy Bear Toss night. Fans in attendance are encouraged to bring a stuffed animal and throw it onto the ice when the Warriors score their first goal of the game. This year, all the furry friends will be donated to Salvation Army Toy Mountain and the Stuffies for Seniors program. Puck drop is at 7 p.m.

Sunday afternoon害羞草研究所檚 contest is Brendan Ritchie Day. Ritchie has been fighting Pulmonary Hypertension for 11 years now and, during that time, has touched the lives of many Warriors players, staff and fans through his fight.

Hope4Brendan rubber wrist bands will be available by donation and all proceeds are going to the Pulmonary Hypertension Clinic at the Stollery Children害羞草研究所檚 Hospital. Fans are also invited to bring their skates and helmets and skate with the Warriors after the game. Puck drop is at 2:30 p.m.
