$42,000 in illegal tobacco caught on Armstrong duo in Midway

A couple of Armstrong people were allegedly caught with a significant stash of cash and illegal smokes.

An RCMP officer in Midway was conducting a routine traffic stop on Highway 3 near Rock Creek Saturday, June 1 for valid driver害羞草研究所檚 license and registration.

The officer noticed tobacco packaging that did not bear the required tax stamp on its packaging which is required by law.

The driver and passenger were subsequently arrested under the Excise Act and a search of the vehicle yielded approximately $42,000 worth of illicit tobacco, and a large quantity of Canadian currency.

The driver and passenger, both from Armstrong, face charges under the Excise Act, along with an additional charge relating to possession of a prohibited weapon.
