BC Wildfire Service, local crews battle blaze in Okanagan Falls

Blaze is 0.6 hectares in size but is now 'under control'

Fire crews in the South Okanagan and BC Wildfire Service are battling a blaze in Okanagan Falls on Saturday, June 8.

BCWS says the fire was discovered at 3:22 p.m. and is currently 0.6 hectares in size. It is located at Maple Street and 10th Avenue.

Mikhail Elsay, fire information officer, says BCWS sent one initial attack crew and an additional response officer to assist the Okanagan Falls Volunteer Fire Department in fighting the blaze.

As of 5 p.m., BCWS says the fire is "under control."
