The Upper Jesse Creek fire by Merritt is now considered to be held.
The blaze that was discovered on July 14 grew to about 10 hectares but had no growth overnight.
BC Wildfire Service says that the blaze is expected to remain within its current perimeter.
The suspected cause of the fire is lightning.
The City of Merritt said it is monitoring 10-hectare wildfire burning approximately 5 kilometres north of the community.
"Fire crews are responding to the fire and the fire does not currently pose a threat to the City," said the city in a post shared on social media on Sunday, July 14.
The city noted the fire behaviour as rank 1 and 2 害羞草研究所� a smouldering ground fire with some visible open flame, spreading slowly.
Lightning was the suspected cause of the blaze discovered on July 14. The BC Wildfire Service responded with three attack crews including two helicopters and a group of skimmers supporting ground resources.
As of Monday morning, July 15, the fire remained categorized out of control, but at rank 1 and 2, with no growth overnight. Attack crews with heavy equipment, including water tenders, continued to work on the fire.
The B.C. government expects hot, dry conditions to persist this week throughout southern regions of the province.
