The City of Salmon Arm will be hosting an auction at the Public Works Yard, at 100 30th St. SE, on July 16 and 17, 2024.

An abundance of bicycles, power tools and home/lawn maintenance equipment are among the 349 items the City of Salmon Arm is putting up for auction.

At its June 24 meeting, council gave the green light for staff to host the auction in order to dispose of property the city took possession of over the past four years after it went unclaimed during the 90-day period it was held by the RCMP. The city will also be auctioning off unused materials and equipment.

The auction will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, July 16 and 17, from 1 to 6 p.m. both days at the city Public Works Yard at 100 30th St. SE.

Residents searching for lost or stolen property are encouraged to view the inventory . If a lost or stolen item is identified, the city asks it be reported right away by email to cityhall@salmonarm.ca.

"The claimantº¦Ðß²ÝÑо¿Ëù™s full name, contact number, detailed description of the item and proof of ownership along with associated lot number will need to be provided," explained the city. "City or RCMP representatives will reach out to claimants to guide them through next steps. Verified claimed items will immediately be withdrawn from the auction."

The auction will be conducted in person only (no mailed/emailed bids), and interested participants are required to provide their full name, mailing address, email and phone number upon arrival/check-in, and will be provided a bidders identification number. Successful bidders will be contacted within two weeks after the auction closes. If an item isn't paid for by Aug. 7, the item will go to the next highest bidder.

Council was informed items not auctioned off would go to a city-hosted garage sale. Remaining unsold items would then go to the thrift store or landfill.

For more information, contact the city's warehouse department at 250-803-4090.
