Celebrating local cultural diversity

Global Citizen Kelowna is taking place in the city this week.

Through dance, music, storytelling and food Kelowna is celebrating its local cultural diversity this week, during Global Citizen.

The annual festival promotes global interconnections and since its inception in 2003 has grown from a week long celebration to nearly a month of community events.

Students in grade six will have an opportunity from Feb. 14 to 21 to learn about barriers to eduction that children face in other parts of the world during Global School House.

Other events include the Global Speakers Series, on Feb. 21 at the Okanagan Regional Library (#20 - 301 Hwy 33 West) from 7 to 9 p.m. This year害羞草研究所檚 series is called 害羞草研究所淏uilding Community害羞草研究所 and features a wide range of speakers including; Dr. Shirley Chau; Dr. Hugo De Burgois; Khalid Arriani; and The OKM Debate Team.

On Saturday Feb. 25 families can participate in Global Children害羞草研究所檚 Village where they can learn Aboriginal storytelling, make crafts and play games. The event takes place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Lake Country Community Gym (9950 Main Street).
