The latest addition to the Central Green project is before council today.

The 80 unit, five-storey housing unit being proposed will have 20 two-bedroom units, 35 one-bedroom units, five bachelor suites and 20 micro-suites. Each has a balcony to meet the private amenity space requirements.

Aesthetically, the building is said to be in tune with its surroundings.

The building is interior to the site and will not directly front onto Richter Street or Harvey Avenue and the primary entry facing to the east public plaza area and onto the Central Green internal access road, reads the report to council.

Three strata buildings are already in under construction at Central Green. The general site also includes two subsidized housing complexes.

Original plans for Central Green envisioned 20-storey towers along Harvey Avenue and open space.

Those plans were ruled out due to cost and new buildings will now be 12 storeys, with most of Central Green consisting of mid-rise structures as well as a new city park.
