The Kelowna RCMP have been catching people who have been trying out for the Fast and the Furious around town.

On Tuesday, July 4 at 6:30 a.m., the RCMP stopped a driver in a 2008 black Dodge Challenger who was driving 142 km/h in a 60 km/h zone on John Hindle Drive. This level of speeding resulted in the car being impounded for seven days and a $483 fine. While the officer was completing their investigation, it was discovered the vehicle was also uninsured, which resulted in an additional $598 fine.

On Thursday, July 6, officers pulled over a driver in a Chevrolet truck who was clocked at going 136 k/h in a 90 km/h zone.

Additionally, from the week of June 14-22, the RCMP held a driving blitz, in which they took eight excessive speeders off the streets. The vehicles were removed from Stewart Road, Glenmore Drive and Clement Avenue.
