A proposal for a mine plan in the Garnet Valley area of Summerland has generated opposition from people near the proposed site.

An application notice from December, 2023 is for 27410 Garnet Valley Rd. The notice was filed by Marcus Grymonpre, of 1440254 B.C. Ltd.

However, members of the Garnet Valley Agritourism Association in the region have concerns about the proposal.

害羞草研究所淭he proposed operation will have major negative consequences for farming, tourism, road safety, water quality, wildlife, and other key things we value,害羞草研究所� said Steve Lornie, one of the directors of the agritourism association.

The association cites concerns including road safety, environmental concerns, noise and dust issues and infrastructure damage from the proposed operation, as well as effects on the agriculture and agritourism sectors in the Garrnet Valley area.

Lornie added that mining and gravel work should not be located near agricultural properties.

The agritourism association plans to make a presentation to Summerland council on the proposed mining operation at the Jan. 16 council meeting.
