Driver flees in Vernon crash

UPDATE June 4:

Attempts to sniff out a suspect in a crash Saturday are still underway.

BC Highway Patrol was called to a collision at 27th Street and 39th Avenue June 1 around 1:40 p.m.

A soutbound grey Hyundai struck a westbound grey Jeep.

Two occupants of the Jeep were transported to hospital with minor injuries and have since been released, according to media relations officer Cpl. Melissa Jongema.

The driver of the Hyundai fled on foot and the police service dog was called in, but unable to track the suspect.

The file is under investigation by BCHP Falkland.

ORIGINAL June 1:

Traffic is stalled on 39th Avenue in Vernon due to a vehicle crash.

The crash took place just before 3 p.m. at 27th Street and 39th Avenue.

Traffic is getting through on 27th Street but has been blocked off on 39th Avenue.

Police are on scene, where it appears that more than one vehicle was involved in the crash.

It is unclear at this time if any injuries were sustained as a result of the crash.
