Financial support is being generated for an Armstrong man who was "critically injured" in an accident early last month. 

Chris English sustained a traumatic brain injury on July 4 when a large fir tree was cut and fell approximately 70 feet, striking him on the top of his head, according to family friend Sean O'Neill, who started a campaign for English. 

English was rushed to Kelowna by air ambulance for emergency brain surgery. He was discharged from hospital Aug. 14 and is continuing his recovery from home. 

"Due to unfortunate circumstances there is not any financial coverage for this incident," O'Neill wrote on the GoFundMe page, adding English's spouse was forced to make the difficult decision to close her business in order to assist English and care for their children. 

While O'Neill says English would love to be able to get back to work, he is very limited in what specialists will allow him to do before he undergoes further testing and therapy. 

"It is absolutely amazing that he survived this accident but bills are piling up for this family," O'Neill wrote. 

O'Neill told The Morning Star that English has been in the tree industry for about 20 years and is well known for his work in Vernon, Armstrong, Enderby and the Shuswap. 

Launched on Monday, the GoFundMe has raised just over $3,100 towards its goal of $20,000 as of Thursday afternoon.
