When the GolfBC Championship tees off at Gallagher害羞草研究所檚 Canyon June 12, the event will be about more than just who plays the best.

The organizers have announced a 害羞草研究所渟ignificant害羞草研究所� portion of the proceeds from this year害羞草研究所檚 event害羞草研究所攚hich runs June 12 to 18害羞草研究所攁re going to be donated Red Cross Kelowna flood relief.

The Mackenzie Tour PGA Tour Canada GolfBC Championship made the announcement Wednesday afternoon.

害羞草研究所淲e want to demonstrate our support for the community in this time of need by giving something back from the tournament and our title sponsor GolfBC,害羞草研究所� said tournament director Hugh Vassos.

害羞草研究所淎s a professional golf tournament that relies on hundreds of volunteers, generous sponsors, and the support of thousands of golf fans; this is the right thing to do.害羞草研究所�

Rita Rennie, GolfBC director of marketing said the fundamental belief upon which the Chan Family Foundation害羞草研究所擥olfBC害羞草研究所檚 charitable arm害羞草研究所攊s built, is the spirit of giving back to the community and the importance of helping others.

害羞草研究所淲e are pleased to continue supporting the B.C. Cancer Foundation as the GolfBC Championship害羞草研究所檚 designated charity beneficiary, however with the devastation caused by the current flooding in the Kelowna area, we have decided to direct part proceeds of our fundraising initiatives at this year害羞草研究所檚 event to aid the Red Cross Kelowna flood relief efforts,害羞草研究所� said Rennie.

Scott Pritchard, vice-president of the Mackenzie Tour-PGA Tour Canada said the GolfBC Championship has made philanthropy a major priority and it has become one of the most charitable events on the Mackenzie Tour.
