At approximately 8 a.m. on July 21, Chase RCMP officers on patrol checked on the occupants of a stationary vehicle on the Trans-Canada in Pritchard. The driver was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Kelowna.

"A cursory search of the vehicle located a prohibited handgun and ammunition," Const. Sarah Van Wilgenburg said in a media release. "The vehicle was towed to be searched, pending approval of a search warrant."

The driver was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
