Kelowna RCMP nab speeding drivers

Speed trap on Highway 97 near Ellison Lake hauls in 25 drivers exceeding the posted speed limit in one afternoon.

Enforcement along a stretch of Highway 97 north of Kelowna resulted in dozens of drivers ticketed for speeding, nearly half of those had their vehicles removed from the roadway and impounded for allegedly speeding excessively.

During Monday afternoon, officers with RCMP害羞草研究所檚 Central Okanagan Traffic Service conducted enforcement on Highway 97 North alongside Ellison Lake.

In a period of approximately two hours, officers issued a total of 25 violation tickets to motorists allegedly travelling above the posted speed limit of 90 kilometres per hour (km/hr).

Of those 25, 10 motorists were issued fines of at least $368 for allegedly speeding excessively over the posted speed limit. The highest speed obtained by enforcement officers was 148 km/hr in the posted 90 km/hr zone.
