Kelowna RCMP officer assaulted during arrest on BC transit bus

A Kelowna RCMP officer was assaulted after police stopped a BC transit bus around 7 p.m. Thursday (May 23).

Police received a report of a possible weapon in possession of a group of individuals and stopped a bus in the 200 block of Rutland Road North.

As the officer attempted to arrest one of the individuals, she was assaulted and suffered minor injuries. The assault resulted in RCMP surrounding the bus and the individual was arrested.

The officer remained on duty.

RCMP is asking the public to submit any dash camera footage and video surveillance from the 200 block of Rutland Road North between 6:15 p.m. and 7 p.m.
