A man experiencing shortness of breath and possible cardiac issues was rescued from the Enderby River, on Monday afternoon.

Vernon Search and Rescue were called out to a sand bar on the river at about 12:30 p.m.

Both a jet boat team and volunteers on the ground were mobilized to assist in the rescue.

According to VSAR public information officer Trevor Honigman, the team was able to locate the man and maintain stability, until they were able to transport him back to where BC Ambulance was waiting.

The man was then placed in the care of BC Ambulance and taken to hospital.
