UPDATE: Minor mudslide reported in Peachland

A minor mudslide is affecting traffic in Peachland on Highway 97.

UPDATE: April 18, 2017

The deluge of water on Highway 97, between Princeton and Ponderosa avenues, in Peachland is under control.

Emergency crews dealt with a water main break and diverted the stream off the highway, according ot the District of Peachland.

Now the matter is in the hands of the Ministry of Highways.

UPDATE: 4:22 p.m.

Drivers are told to use caution while travelling in Peachland along Highway 97 near Princeton Avenue.

Fire crews and police are on scene dealing with a minor mudslide and running water.

The water is rushing across the highway, but does not appear to be a major issue for drivers.

Emergency personnel are trying to divert the water towards a ditch and away from the highway.

No structures are reported to be threatened or damaged.

DriveBC is reporting a mudslide in Peachland.

Motorists travelling along Highway 97 near Princeton Avenue are warned of falling debris in the area.

Both directions of the road are affected.

The reported mudslide occurred about 3 p.m.

Use caution if driving in the area and check for updates.

This is theissue in the area in the last four months. Renfrew Road recently reopened to traffic after a landslide on Jan. 6.
