Shuswap firefighters head north to fight Tumbler Ridge blaze

Regional District deploys 8 firefighters, 2 trucks to assist with fire that has residents evacuated

Shuswap firefighters are heading up north to help fight the fire blazing in Tumbler Ridge.

As of June 9, the wildfire had gotten as close as three kilometres away from the community, according to an update from the Tumbler Ridge district. Residents have been evacuated since Thursday afternoon (June 8).

The Columbia Shuswap Regional District has deployed firefighters from the region and a truck from both the Shuswap and Anglemont departments.

The team includes members from various CSRD departments including White Lake, Shuswap, Ranchero Deep Creek, Anglemont and Swansea Point, reads a CSRD Facebook post.
