The Sicamous RCMP arrested a man on Wednesday, Jan. 24 for impaired driving.

At approximately 10 p.m, police stopped the driver of a pickup truck with a Quebec licence plate on Main Street for a sobriety check due to noted driving infractions. The driver was noted to have obvious signs of impairment by alcohol and a road side screening demand was read by the officer.

The driver was required to perform a breathalyzer test, which resulted in a fail and an immediate road side prohibition was issued along with a 90 days suspension of the driverº¦Ðß²ÝÑо¿Ëù™s licence and a 30-day impound of the truck.

Sicamous RCMP is also warning the public about an internet scam. On Jan. 26, a senior citizen reported an attempted fraud involving communication from an unknown person on her computer.

The senior received a pop-up message stating that her computer had been compromised and she needed to phone a º¦Ðß²ÝÑо¿Ëù˜bank representativeº¦Ðß²ÝÑо¿Ëù™ to solve the issue. She then allowed the unknown person to have access to her computer, at which point the º¦Ðß²ÝÑо¿Ëù˜bank representativeº¦Ðß²ÝÑо¿Ëù™ insisted that she purchase $10,000 worth of iTunes cards. After becoming suspicious, the senior did not complete the transaction.

RCMP would like to remind the public that a bank or financial institution would never ask to purchase iTunes cards, nor would they ask to provide private banking information.
